The name of Eros—god of vexing love—does not appear in Homer’s Odyssey.

Yet he’s the oldest deity, Parmenides says, the child of black-feathered night.

He’s fooled in that parent’s dark with y’all and me—

As offspring of reality, it’s time we got it right!
