Never apologize, never explain.

—Benjamin Disraeli

He's had fifty daughters by Selene, I think;

They wizz around as fast as you can blink!

Keats wrote rhymed couplets about her

Claiming she was a bint called “Peona.”*

(I hope I’ve spelled the name aright;

Fact is, I never had the twirp in sight.)

Mousekewitz** is his rival for Selene

Since someone told him that her cheese is green!

When you’re four and a half million years old,

It’s quite a portent if your locks are gold!

Long in the mandible these days himself,

They say he’s never short of pelf!

It’d take him half a year to get to Mars,

But he has set his sights on closer stars!
